Some time ago, designer Michael DiTullo posted a picture of a hacked Toyota van with a pickup bed. I thought it was really cool, and decided to do a sketch of what this would look like if it was fixed up. I imagined a JDM spec’ed front end with period era 4 spoke wheels. A diamond plate pickup bed would be a durable than the plywood box in the photo. I really enjoyed working on this sketch and I may sketch more modified cars in the near future.
Its been ages since I’ve posted! a lot has happened since then. A position at Dell, helping out a local ID firm and now I’m venturing more into my own. Its been a little scary! One thing that I could say, is that I haven’t been bored.
In addition to industrial design, I enjoy painting. I painted “Magic Blue Bonnet” months ago. It was really fun and I enjoyed the process of making it. Once I took the tape off, it revealed the blonde plywood edges. It wasn’t bad, but it seemed a little distracting from the painting. Last week I laid down a light wash with acrylic paint and then added a stain. I think this “mahogany” works much better with the blue bonnet.
This painting is for sale and will be show at the upcoming “Art will save us” party.
